We are people-centered, problem solvers dedicated to enabling organizations to become more capable, more connected, and more courageous.
Kevin W. Johnson II is the founder of KJ2 Solutions LLC, a consulting firm committed to helping organizations become more capable, more connected, and more courageous. With over 15 years of experience across sectors, Kevin brings a uniquely interdisciplinary perspective to organizational development, leadership strategy, and inclusive culture transformation.
He began his career as a structural engineer, developing a systems-thinking mindset that continues to inform his work. His time as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Ghana deepened his cultural agility and strengthened his belief in collaboration and empathy to solve tough problems. At Battelle Memorial Institute, Kevin led diversity, equity, inclusion (DEI), and EEO initiatives for a 3,500-person organization, designing a DEI strategic plan and overseeing multiple employee resource groups. He later joined the Partnership for Public Service, where he led groundbreaking efforts across federal agencies—including the Chief Diversity Officer Council, the Federal Racial Equity Summit, and the first-ever Chief Diversity Officer Bootcamp for the federal government.
Throughout his career, Kevin has designed and facilitated hundreds of executive-level workshops and leadership development sessions. His portfolio includes strategic planning engagements with agencies like the U.S. Department of Education; executive communication workshops for the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services; and recruitment strategy projects with the U.S. Department of State, U.S. Forest Service, and the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. Whether leading a Cabinet-level retreat or equipping DEI professionals with actionable frameworks, Kevin’s approach is grounded in clarity, empathy, and measurable impact.
Kevin holds a Master of Human Resource Management and a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from The Ohio State University. He is a Certified Diversity Executive (CDE®) through the Institute for Diversity Certification (IDC)®, a Senior Certified Professional (SHRM-SCP®) through the Society for Human Resource Management, a Change Management Practitioner through Prosci, Inc.®, and a Crucial Conversations Trainer certified by VitalSmarts®.
At the heart of Kevin’s work is a deep commitment to people. One of his core values is centering the margins—the belief that true progress is made with the many, not by the few. He often draws inspiration from Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s words: “Only when it is dark enough can you see the stars.” For Kevin, human-centered problem solving is not just a methodology—it is a moral imperative in a world that must prioritize people over profit, process, or platform.
